Edit video in Claude and ChatGPT.

Connect Inky Clips to your AI assistant and describe the captions and titles you want, in your own words. The editor opens in the chat with every font, colour, position and timing set, drawn pixel-perfect by the same engine that renders your export.

Add yellow captions written word by word as I speak, and a handwritten title at the top.

The clip shows a scientist speaking, with captions written in Sans Bold as they talk.

Write what you want. Get exactly that.

The assistant turns a sentence into precise settings: which font, which colour, where, when it starts, how fast it writes and how it goes away. You see the result in the chat before you export.

  • Add yellow captions with a dark box, written word by word as I speak.

Captions from the speech in yellow on a background box, each word written the moment it's spoken.

  • Write “This is Earth” slowly at the top in a handwritten font with a comet pen, hold it, then erase it.

Cursive, 3 seconds of writing with a glowing comet on the pen tip, fully visible long enough to read, then unwritten from the first letter.

  • List five quick facts about Earth at the bottom, one after another, in a square font.

Five labels in Tech, each timed after the last, each held long enough to read.

  • Make an 8-second video from this photo with the title “Day one” in the top left.

The photo becomes an 8-second clip (you confirm the length on a slider), with a handwritten title placed below the corner mark.

Everything the editor can do, in words

The assistant drives the full Inky Clips editor, not a simplified one. Anything it sets, you can still change by hand on the timeline.

23 fonts
Handwriting, bold and readable sans, clean single-line, square and serif. Ask for a style and the assistant picks one, or name it.
Writing
Every text draws itself stroke by stroke: snappy or slow, letter by letter or all at once, with a pen, dot, spark or comet on the tip.
Timing
Each text comes in, stays fully visible long enough to read, then fades, erases from its first letter or cuts. Lists can follow one another.
Captions
Made from the speech in 99 spoken languages, styled like any text, and written word by word as they're said if you like.

Connect Inky Clips to Claude

  1. Add the connector

In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Paste https://inkyclips.com/mcp as the server URL.

  2. Sign in

Click Connect, continue with Google (the same account as on inkyclips.com) and approve Inky Clips.

  3. Ask for an edit

In a chat, describe the captions and titles you want. The Inky Clips editor opens in the conversation; drop your video in once.

  4. Fine-tune and export

Adjust anything on the timeline or ask for changes in the chat, then press Export to download the MP4.

ChatGPT: open Settings, then Apps, turn on Developer mode, and create an app with the URL https://inkyclips.com/mcp and OAuth sign-in. ChatGPT passes videos you share in the chat straight into the editor.

The real editor, in the chat

Inky Clips opens inside the conversation with its preview, timeline and inspector. Ask for a change and the next editor keeps your video and everything you adjusted, so you can go back and forth until it’s right.

What the editor does

Captions that keep up

Ask for captions and the speech is transcribed in your browser, in 99 spoken languages, then written onto the video word by word. Style them in the same sentence: colour, font, size, position, a box behind them.

More on auto captions

Your instructions, your video.

Captions are made and the video is rendered in your browser. The assistant sends Inky Clips your instructions, not your footage, and the finished file is handed to you through a one-time link that expires after 15 minutes.

Questions

Can ChatGPT edit videos?

Not by itself: ChatGPT can talk about a video but doesn't render one. With the Inky Clips app it can. You describe the captions, titles and labels, and the Inky Clips editor opens in the chat with them applied, ready to adjust and export.

Can Claude edit videos?

Yes, with the Inky Clips connector. Claude turns your instructions into fonts, positions and timing, and the editor opens in the conversation. Claude can't hand files from the chat to an app yet, so you drop the video into the editor once; later requests reuse it.

Can you upload videos to ChatGPT?

Yes. ChatGPT accepts video files in a chat, and with the Inky Clips app it passes them straight into the editor. In Claude you choose the video in the editor itself, where it stays on your computer.

What can I ask for?

Captions from the speech, titles, labels, lists and step-by-step facts, in any of the 23 fonts, any colour and size, in seven positions, with their own writing speed, pen marker, start time and way of going away (fade, erase or cut). Photos work too: they become a short video first.

Is the result exactly what I asked for?

Yes, down to the pixel: the preview in the chat and the exported MP4 are drawn by the same engine, frame for frame. If the assistant guesses wrong, change it on the timeline or say what to change.

Is it free?

Yes. Connect with a free account and export as often as you like; free videos carry a small inkyclips.com mark in the corner. A paid plan from €7.99 a month removes it, in the chat as on the site.

Where does my video go?

A video you choose in the editor stays on your computer: captions and rendering happen in your browser. A video shared in a ChatGPT chat is stored by OpenAI under its terms. To give you the finished file, the export passes through our server once and is deleted after 15 minutes.

Is this a Claude connector or an MCP server?

Both: Inky Clips is an MCP server with an interactive app, at https://inkyclips.com/mcp. Claude adds it as a custom connector; ChatGPT adds it as an app (in developer mode until it's listed in the app directory). Sign-in is with Google through OAuth.
