About EMS Nixish
What it looks like
It is light enough for short headings and distinctive enough to set a mood on its own.
On video
Use it for retro and analogue themes: film photography, vinyl, old diaries, travel logs with dates and places. It looks good small in a corner as well as large in the centre.
For plotters, engraving and cutting machines
The thin, regular line plots very cleanly and gives a typed look without an actual typewriter, handy for tags, letter-style cards and labels.

Where it comes from
EMS Nixish is one of the EMS single-line fonts drawn by Sheldon B. Michaels, each traced from an open-source typeface (this one from Nixie One by Jovanny Lemonad). Windell H. Oskay of Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories converted them to SVG fonts for Inkscape's Hershey Text extension, which is where many plotter users first meet them.
Licence and download
EMS Nixish is free under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Free to use, embed and share, including in commercial videos, products and plotted or engraved work. You can't sell the font file on its own, and changed versions have to stay under the same licence.
